Brick City Pets is not just about meeting a need in our community it is also about my personal journey.

I’ve worked for corporate for over 30 years. It was never my goal or aspiration to work in corporate america but like many I got trapped. I bought into what we were told was the “American Dream”. Get a good job, make a nice salary, buy the house and basically handcuff yourself to your job.

I deferred my dream of working with animals. I really just let it fade it away.

2019 through 2020 brought home what that decision actually cost me, my health.

When I woke up, I started to take action. 2020 I sold my 4 bedroom, 3 story home of 15 years and moved into 550 square foot studio. I made the decision that I would prepare myself to walk away from a 6 figure salary that was killing me.

2021 I ended up in the hospital with pulmonary embolisms and anemia. My body was revolting and  making it loud and clear I had to make a change.

I knew that I wanted to do something in the pet industry but I also wanted to be a testimony to what a black women with no college degree could achieve. I want to not only help pet owners give their pets a better life I wanted to inspire and give back to all the other people like me. People that look like me and people trapped in jobs and careers that they don’t love or enjoy.

Once the decision was made in my mind that I would be opening Brick City Pets, the pieces began to fall into place.

I still have a ways to go but I can see it and I can feel it.

I wake up everyday with 3 mantras.

I give thanks for what I have, the people in my life and for what I have accomplished

I forgive myself for the mistakes I’ve made on this journey called life

I commit myself to take actions on realizing Brick City Pets, using my journey to inspire others,  and giving back to my community.

Follow Brick City Pets to GRAND OPENING and follow my journey. The best is yet to come!!!
